Cornelius Joseph Hermeler (born 1931) was a well-known set designer for the Dutch television from the 1950’s till the 1980’s. Many of his designs are on display at the Dutch Institute for Beeld en Geluid (picture and sound), the national Dutch archives for radio, films and television. Next to his television work, Hermeler was a succesful painter of motorcars. This is one of his earliest works, he was just 19 years old when he painted it, maybe inspired by the Italian racing court at Monza.
